Watch Out
One day at work, you left your watch on a desk. The next day you remember & return to the desk only to find your watch long gone. You ask around & no one knows anything about it. As you leave & walk through the parking lot, you notice your watch on the floorboard of your co-worker’s car. The next day you confront them, but they deny it. This person hardly does their fair share of work & what little they do is sloppy. They seem to get away with things you’ve been scorned for. You can’t stand this person & it’s not uncommon for you & your other co-workers to joke about them.

Clearly, the co-worker has sinned by stealing & being lazy. However, you have sinned by despising & hating this person in your heart. You have also sinned by joining your co-workers in slander (malicious speech against someone). You have fallen short of God’s perfect standard.
Anyone who hates his brother is a murderer, and you know that no murderer has eternal life in him. - 1 Jn 3.15
You have heard that it was said to the people long ago, ‘Do not murder, and anyone who murders will be subject to judgment.’ But I tell you that anyone who is angry with his brother will be subject to judgment. Again, anyone who says to his brother, ‘Raca,’ is answerable to the Sanhedrin. But anyone who says, ‘You fool!’ will be in danger of the fire of hell. – Mt 5.21-22
Do you not know that the wicked will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor male prostitutes nor homosexual offenders nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God. – 1 Cor 6.9-10
