Parables, Analogies & Things Like Metaphors
One method of teaching that Jesus uses comes in the form of parables. A parable is a story of comparison between 2 things where the common one is used to provide understanding of the uncommon or unknown one. It has been explained before that you should never try to make a parable stand on all fours. In other words, the comparison can only be taken as far as the author intends the teaching to go. Some of His parables that people are most familiar with are that of the Good Samaritan (Lk 10.25-37) & the Prodigal Son (Lk 15.11-32). |
