Suddenly Gone
|
A poem dedicated to those who lost their lives at the Sandy Hook School in Newtown, Connecticut on December 14, 2012, their families & all those who have lost little ones.

Precious little life conceived;
Many hopes for them dreamed.
Tiny fingers, tiny toes;
My how fast they do grow.
Crawling, walking, already reading;
Asking questions, answers needing.
Testing boundaries, still so sweet;
Homework, toys & skinned knees.
Practice, games, the next event;
Coming & going, came & went.
Suddenly, it’s all gone.
Can’t be, impossible – wrong.
Empty room, vacant dreams;
Daily tears, midnight screams.
So much pain, yet no feeling;
Asking questions, answers needing.
Why them? Why now?
Where was God anyhow?
He was where He’s always been;
Now, though – holding them.
Aware of pain, aware of loss;
His Son died upon the cross.
His innocent life taken away;
Yet given up to make a way.
Seek Him still, He will save;
Eternal life beyond the grave.
Our time lingers, pain is real;
Resurrected life, He can heal.
Christ will help, beyond just cope,
The Way, Truth, Life – eternal hope.
Many hopes for them dreamed.
Tiny fingers, tiny toes;
My how fast they do grow.
Crawling, walking, already reading;
Asking questions, answers needing.
Testing boundaries, still so sweet;
Homework, toys & skinned knees.
Practice, games, the next event;
Coming & going, came & went.
