Seasons of Reasons
20-Dec-10
Before time or anything was created,
Christ knew all and still decided; To make a splendorous universe, That would earn the wages of a curse. Not that it was unanimous, But chosen by Adam –and us. Sun, moon and stars did nothing wrong; It was sinful humanity that brought it on. So it was and ever since then, The whole world has suffered our sin. God has observed everyday since; Will we be sorry for our offense? The justice of God will not forget, The vices we like, but won’t admit. We call them natural - explain them away; Guilt, shame and conscience seeming to wane. Along with the crowd on the wide, easy path; No thought or concern for God’s coming wrath. But wasn’t there a story or song sung at Christmas? Something of a Christ-child born to save us? It’s true; His coming couldn’t have been stranger; Born to a virgin - a discrete, humble manger. Entirely inconvenient, but right on time; The world needed a Savior, but had nothing in mind. Christ lived a life, so perfect, so pure; No one else has, of that we are sure. He came to Earth, in flesh to live; No beauty or majesty - unattractive. Innocent, betrayed; He was misunderstood; Condemned and nailed to a cross of wood. He knew beforehand; there must be a reason; And it's found in the Easter season. Three days dead, in a borrowed tomb He was laid; Within the cold, stony Earth He’d once made. But that was enough, death had not won; Just as He said, God resurrected His Son. Punished for our sin; He and Father agreed; It was the only way, for our only need. And if you believe He died in your place, He’ll guarantee heaven through faith, by grace. By taking God’s wrath, He’s able to forgive; Your sin record erased, so you can live. Give you His good standing; from hell He’ll save; Not by our goodness can we escape the grave. But you must trust Jesus to secure your fate; This season and forever you’ll celebrate. Good will towards men; heavenly peace and joy; From the choice cross of the Christmas Boy. |
