Political Worldviews on Morality
After discussing truth, one quickly arrives at morality. Your view of whether or not you can know if something is true leads to whether or not you believe there can be a true difference between right & wrong or if you can know it at all (Though, we tend to recognize it rather quickly whenever we’ve been wronged).
Democratic View: Since truth is relative & knowledge is subjective, then no absolute (universally applied) moral standard is possible & certainly not permanent or transcendent. However, something becomes morally right if it moves towards a perceived greater good of humanity. This end objective justifies the means & trumps any bounds of traditional morality.
With truth & morality being relative, things can be redefined or altered to mean whatever one wants in order to meet the objective. This means breaking allegedly outdated laws or other conventionally immoral acts (i.e. lying, voter fraud, bird-dogging, etc) may be justified if they achieve a necessary end. It even means murder may be justified by defining an unwanted people group as “non-human” (i.e. Nazis dehumanized Jews, Communists dehumanized Ukrainian Kulaks, Democrats dehumanize unborn children as "tissue"). Issues of marriage & sexuality can be redefined because they are useful weapons to dislodge & demonize the traditional morality of political opponents. And the Marxist philosophy of forceful revolution is promoted, even if it causes property damage & injury (i.e. the BLM/Antifa riots). The only morality one must hold to is that which is defined by those in charge. The end justifies the means (i.e. if the goal is to win a presidential election, then anything can be justified).
Republican View: Moral absolutes of right & wrong exist & are necessary to define. Like the laws of physics, they do not change with time & they apply to everyone (natural law). While the mode of a deed (how it’s done) may change over time, the core essence of a deed (what/why it’s done) remains a perpetual issue of humanity.
Because truth exists, one can study the facts of situations & observe the detrimental impact of wrong behavior or the benefit of right behavior over the course of time. Therefore, it is possible to learn from moral failures (personal or of others) due to the cause-effect relationship (i.e. LGBT lifestyles lead to physical & emotional problems). Policy contrary to traditional morality causes problems & should not be promoted simply because someone wants it to. Recognizing moral absolutes & maintaining traditional morality is stabilizing to individuals, families & societies.
