Political Worldviews on Foreign Relations
Views on humanity & morality then impact views on the rest of the world.
Democratic View: With its ultimate aim towards a global utopia, this view puts more emphasis on working with other nations on various agendas & less emphasis on national sovereignty or individual freedom which can be sacrificed if it engenders global unity & equalization. One agenda with both global interest & high potential for control is the environment which is portrayed as an upmost moral issue. Therefore, the end goal justifies misconstruing information about man-made climate change. Other powerful global agendas are the economy, trade, terrorism, foreign conflicts & now, of course, the "pandemic" of COVID-19.
In dealing with non-compliant nations, this view seeks to use diplomatic talks, sanctions & payments to the virtual exclusion of military action (i.e. Obama's Iran deal). This view feels that self-disarmament (i.e. leaving military equipment in Afghanistan) , providing advanced notice of any action & giving in to the demands of other nations is a show of trust & convinces other nations to do the same. It also defers all responsibility of a world superpower to a global entity (United Nations) in which it hopes can be the central governing agency to eventually usher in a global utopia.
Republican View: This view focuses on maintaining national sovereignty & individual freedom (America First & Make America Great Again), not sacrificing either for global agendas. The economy, trade, terrorism & rouge nations are real issues that require consideration of national interests & security as well as the protection of our allies. Cooperation with other nations is certainly encouraged as long as it makes sense. Man-made climate change is not scientifically supported & should not be used to usurp power or freedom from any citizen, business or nation, nor should any authentic global issue.
Diplomatic talks & sanctions regarding hostile nations will first be pursued & maintained as long as they are advancing toward realistic goals, but never leave military action off the table, never show weakness, never take shows of force lightly & never pay ransoms which all invite further misconduct. Tyrannical powers will always seek to push their limits, exploiting naivety & weakness (i.e. Nazi Germany just before WWII, modern day Iran & North Korea). As a global superpower, our nation has responsibility first to its own citizens, then to its foreign allies, then to neutral powers. A central governing agency (United Nations) is complicated by conflicts of interest, consumes resources & lacks decisive action that would be in the best interest of our nation.
